The O.P. Jindal Institute of Technology has been established with the primary motive to "Impart quality education and train the youth to take up the future challenges of evolving INDIA". The Institute is a dream come true of its founder late Shri O. P. Jindal, an eminent industrialist, politician and great philanthropist.The Institute is affiliated to Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University, Bhilai and is recognized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of HRD and Government of India. Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) will set up an engineering college in Raigarh district where the company has its steel and power facilities.The construction work of O P Jindal Institute of Technology (OPJIT) is in the final stage and the company officials are hopeful to start the college from the coming academic session.According to company officials, the institute will come up in 30 acres of land in the O P Jindal Industrial Park at Punjipathara—about 22 kms from Raigarh district headquarters.The officials said that 1000 students would be enrolled in the first batch in the institute that would offer 4-years Engineering degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Metallurgy Engineering branches. The campus will have all other facilities including modern workshop, library, sports ground. Residential blocks for the teaching staff along with separate hostels for boys and girls would be set up in the premises.
