Bagaria Education Trust was constituted by a Group of Professionals who hail from rural areas of Rajasthan and who felt that special efforts were needed for promoting education in the rural areas and particularly amongst rural women. To spread education in the villages, the promoters firmly believed that education of the women folk in the villages was a pre-requisite and that an educated mother can create an educated child. A special drive called `Shiksha Karmi` was, therefore, initiated by the promoters for educating the daughter-in-laws and for mothers of the village and these women folk were trained to impart education to the village children.
This initiative later got the shape of Gramothan Vidyapeeth, the School established in Nagaur, district of Rajasthan in the year 1992. Taking another lead in this direction, the promoters also established the Swami Keshvanand Institute of Technology, Management & Gramothan at Jaipur in the year 2000 which is popularly known as SKIT and is now one of the premier Engineering Institute not only in Rajasthan but also in the Northern India. Another venture in the field of engineering education was the Marudhar Engineering College at Bikaner which came up in 2003.
VIT Campus, comprising of Vivekananda Institute of Technology and Vivekananda College of Engineering, is an attempt to usher in technology revolution by using modern management techniques and harnessing potentials of India. The contributions of the great people who devoted their life for the cause of education and youth have always inspired the promoters and, therefore, the institutes have been named after the great Swami Vivekananda ji.
