Dharmapuri Medical College has been given approval by the Central Government and this has been welcomed by the Doctors’ Association for Social Equality (DASE). Issuing a press statement, the DASE General Secretary Ravindhranath stated that the Dharmapuri Medical College has been given approval much to the relief of the students and parents. He added that this was possible only after the state government pressurized through the Supreme Court. The last date for admission has been extended to October 20, 2009.
While the Medical Council of India is approving private medical colleges at lighting speed, they are showing great reluctance in approving government colleges said Dr. Ravindranath. He furthered that such behavior of the Medical Council of India will tarnish its image to a greater extent and in the future they should take care to see that such things do not reoccur.
