While over 1.5 lakh candidates were shortlisted of those that took the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE-Main) held in April, only 1.26 lakh have registered for JEE (Advanced), sources have claimed.
JEE (Advanced) will be conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on June 2.
Of the 1.5 lakh students shortlisted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to take the advanced exam, over 28,000 students are girls. Data from the IITs shows that a little over 18% of the total students are female. When JEE (Main) registrations began, of the 12.62 lakh that had registered, over 10 lakh students said they would be interested in taking the advanced exam if they qualified, said an IIT Delhi official.
