  • A new university for vocational education is proposed to be set up soon in Maharashtra. That university would focus completely on vocational training in the State. A specially set up panel will recommend and table a proposal regarding this in the state cabinet.

The proposal backed by the recommendations of a special panel will aim at the promotion of vocational education. Today, Vocational education is a requisite for young to become successful in terms of career and calling, mentioned Rajesh Tope, the Minister of Higher & Technical Education.

He added that a dedicated university for the same would ensure its effective dissemination. Also, he suggested that traditional state universities should also encourage vocational courses to create a skilled workforce.

The Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) organized a two-day conclave named Skillcon India 2013 which was inaugurated by Tope. MCCIA organized the conference that aimed at enhancing vocational education and training in India in association with State Department of Higher and Technical Education and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
