  • The admissions to engineering colleges based on the results of AIEEE have come to an end now. The admissions ended with the announcement of the spot round results.

    According to Srinikethan, professor at NIT-K, Surathkal and Co-ordinator, Central Counselling Board (CCB), 2011, “In the spot round, 22,000 students registered, of which 12,000 locked their choice. Of them, 4,800 were allotted seats. The others wanted only NITs and (had mentioned) no other choice.”

    The spot round was introduced this year to fill 2,829 seats vacant in government colleges which consists 30 NITs, 5 IITs and centre funded institutions.

     After the announcement of the spot results, 300 seats remain unoccupied of the total of 18,411 seats in government colleges. Among the NITs, Agartala has 92 unoccupied seats while Kozhikode has 12 unoccupied seats. As far as private deemed self- funded institutions are concerned, 1,875 seats have been occupied out of 15,000 seats in total. About 1,200 seats from this were from Amity University, Noida alone.
