The list of top 10 Indian centres for higher learning is dominated by Delhi this time. All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and Delhi University (DU) have secured positions in India’s top 10 higher learning institutes. AIIMS, Delhi has been placed on third position in the list and IIT, Delhi and DU have secured fifth and sixth positions respectively in the list.
In the Times Higher Education India Reputation Ranking list, as expected, the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore is in the first place. The ranking is based on global academic prestige in teaching and research and has been introduced for the first time.
Internationally, however, no Indian institute has been able to make it in the global top 10 centers for higher studies. The ranking of centres for higher education 2013 is based on a survey report of about 16,600 academics from across the globe. Only two institutes to be listed in the global top 200 are IIT Bombay and IISc.
