  • All India Pre-Medical / Dental Test is amongst the toughest exams of India that offers applicants to take admission in various reputed medical colleges of India. AIPMT is therefore very important for all the students throughout India aspiring for medical/dental bachelor courses. Plenty of Medical colleges from all over the country provide MBBS and dental programs to the students. The exam is conducted in various centers in order to provide comfort to the students. The students have to be more conscious about this exam and need to work harder to get admission in India’s top class institutes.

    All India Pre-Medical/Dental Test (AIPMT) is a yearly entrance exam conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). This exam is for admission in to 15%  seats in Medical and Dental Colleges run by Union Government, State Governments, Municipal authorities in India(except for Jammu & Kashmir and Andhra Pradesh) for Medical and Dental Bachelor courses. In each states of India there are plenty of medical and dental institutes that grant admission on the basis of this exam.

    Popularity of the exam:

    AIPMT is a very competitive exam as plenty of candidates from all parts of India apply for a limited number of seats.  AIPMT is conducted in two phases: one is Preliminary test and the second phase is Mains. Candidates aspiring to take admission through this medical entrance test need to prepare from the beginning of their higher secondary education. A lot of preparation is required to clear even AIPMT preliminary exam. The candidates who clear the preliminary exams are shortlisted for the mains exam on the basis of which final selection are done.

    Availability of Application forms for AIPMT 2011

    Application forms for AIPMT 2011 are expected to be available for the candidates by the month of October end in the designated branches of Canara Bank and regional offices of CBSE. Candidates will also have the option to apply online through AIPMT website where they have to fill the details in an online form and then take its print out which they have to send to AIPMT office. Candidates can choose to make the payment for online form either through credit card or by sending a demand draft along with the printed form.

    Examination Dates (Tentative):

    Dates for availability of application forms: 4th week of October-first week of December, 2010

    Last date for receipt of completed application forms: 1st week of December, 2010

    Date of Preliminary Examination: 1st week of April, 2011

    Date of Final Examination: mid of May, 2011

    Please note that the dates are only tentative and are not final. The post will be updated as soon as the dates are officially released.

    Eligibility criteria:

    A candidate should be between 17-25 years of age as on December 31st, 2011. There is a relaxation of 5 years in upper age limit for SC/ST/OBC candidates. A candidate should have passed 12th or be appearing in 2011 with the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. Also a candidate should have at least got 50% marks in PCB for general candidates and 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates. A candidate can only appear for AIPMT for a maximum of three times.

    Pattern of Examination:

    Uptil now preliminary examination in AIPMT was of objective type and final examination of subjective type but it has been notified that the pattern of AIPMT will change from 2011. Details regarding it will be available when official notification is released by AIPMT committee.
