CHENNAI: Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli has placed all its 92 students during summer placements for the 2012-14 batch. But the average monthly stipend has fallen to 41,000 from last year’s Rs. 53,000
The slowdown has impacted summer placements at all the IIMs in recent years. This time the highest stipend for internship period was 1 lakh this year as against 1.20 lakh last year.
An IIM statement on Sunday said, "The economic downturn and a difficult job market notwithstanding, IIM-T had a successful summer placement season." IIM-T completed its placements for the first batch in January 2012 while the second batch placement concluded on Sunday. In all, 40 companies drove into the campuses for summer placements last year to recruit 83 students. This year, the number dropped to 39. "It was a tough year, but we are glad we completed the placements considering that our batch size was bigger this year," Godwin Tennyson, chairperson placement and external relations at IIM Tiruchirappalli said
