CMAT, that is, Common Management Aptitude Test is a national level management aptitude test for admission into various B-schools. It is approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). CMAT is more or less similar to MAT. The main reason for initiating CMAT is to reduce the burden on students, who otherwise have to take so many state level and universities' own exams.
There are 50 B-schools participating in this CMAT program and there are around 4 Lakh students who appear in this exam every year. IIM's and other deemed universities will conduct separate exams for MBA admission.
Now, coming on to the exam pattern, CMAT is broadly divided into four parts:
Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation: 25 questions of 100 marks
Logical Reasoning: 25 questions of 100 marks
Language Comprehension: 25 questions of 100 marks
General Awareness: 25 questions of 100 marks
This means that the complete paper will be of 400 marks. The paper might be lengthy so the students must buck up with their speed.
Now, any student with recognized bachelor’s degree with minimum 40% marks aggregate is eligible for appearing in the exam. Final year graduation students can also apply.
