  • According to the notification of the State Right to Free and Compulsory Education Rules issued by the government in July, the Centre has now taken a decision to open 10,000 new primary and upper primary schools in Uttar Pradesh (UP) under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA).

On Thursday, the Department of School Education and Literacy under the Ministry of Human Resource Development sanctioned the 10,366 new primary schools and 1,052 upper primary schools. Also, 121 composite schools have been sanctioned by the centre for urban deprived children.

A total of 23,888 teachers have been sanctioned for these schools. Each primary school will be provided with two teachers and upper primary schools will be provided three subject teachers for Language, Math, Science and Social Science.

Moreover, two sets of school uniforms will also be provided to 1.75 crore students belonging to disadvantaged groups and weaker sections, studying at the primary and upper primary stage of education.

All these steps are being taken with a view to improve the pace of universalizing elementary education in UP.
