Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has got permission from the Supreme Court on June 8 to start online counseling for allotment of around 2,000 seats for MBBS & BDS courses under 15% all India quota from the present academic session.
The allotment process for 15% all India quota of undergraduate is operated from Delhi. Candidates take part in counseling process through video conferencing from centers like Mumbai, Kolkata & Chennai. On previous year counseling for 4,150 candidates was operated by DGHS for 2,194 seats in MBBS & BDS courses.
DGHS counsel Ashok Bhan stated that as a result of online counseling , the candidates need not have to spend money to bear their traveling expenses & the expenditure of the government will be much less. Moreover this online process will be transparent.
The suggestion for online counseling was proposed by an expert committee which was lead by DGHS. It was an endeavor of ministry of health & family welfare in order to solve the problem of vacant seats even after two rounds of counseling every year.
