University of Delhi (DU) is planning to launch a new four year degree course in mathematics and information and communication technology (ICT) which will focus more on innovation and hands-on learning through industry-based projects and less on classroom education. The course will give 60% weightage to projects and innovations and 40% weightage to classroom learning.
The programme will also be interdisciplinary. The University is planning to put the proposal of the programme before the executive council and academic council soon so that the admission can be opened for the students later this year.
Elaborating about the programme more, a senior DU official says, “The four-year programme will encourage students to take up innovations in diverse areas. The course will train them to go into research, engineering, signal processing, electronics and computer science. There will be lots of projects connected with industry."
