Aspiring engineering students belonging to CBSE background are taking resort to deemed universities so that they can get admission in well known colleges. The reason is ,these prestigious educational institutions possess state of the art infrastructural facilities. Moreover, students can get admission in their preferred colleges without waisting much time. Now they are waiting for the counselling process of Anna University.
A guardian opines that very few CBSE students get admission in government engineering colleges through counselling. Candidates who are unable to afford management seats, they select deemed universities as their best options. Deemed universities revealed the information that the number of application in 2012 has raised for around twenty percent than the previous year.
Most of the deemed universities have arranged their counselling programs in May & June which is much earlier than the counselling program of Anna University & NIT admissions through AIEEE. Though these universities mention UGC norms as reason of their advanced planning of their counselling, another reason of their early approach may be that most of the students are reluctant to wait for the AIEEE results that decide admission to around 27 NITs.
V. Rhymend Uthariaraj, secretary, Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions, has requested parents & students to keep patience as huge number of B. Tech/ B.E seats are avbalable whole throughout the state. The number of seats available is approximately 1.6 lakh.
But parents expressed their dissatisfaction as they are not happy with the idea of getting seat in just any college. They doubt the quality of infrastructure in the colleges as they desire to provide their children the best educational opprtunity.
Parents are forced to book seats in deemed universities as these will start their counselling session by mid-May & will continue it till June. A parent reveals that he has booked a seat in VIT by paying Rs. 30,000.
