The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2016 (GATE 2016) will be announced on Saturdays and Sundays only, between Saturday, January 30 and Sunday, February 7, 2016. The forenoon (FN) session will be held from 9 am to 12 noon, while the afternoon (AN) session will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm.
GATE 2016 will be an online examination. The Indian Institute of Science Bangalore (IISc Bangalore) is the organizing institute of the examination.
Applications: The GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) website will open for enrolment, application filling and application submission on Tuesday, September 1, 2015. The last date for submission of online applications through the website is Thursday, October 1, 2015.
GATE is an all-India examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of the aspirants in various undergraduate (UG) subjects in Engineering/Technology/Architecture and postgraduate (PG) level subjects in Science. The scores of GATE are not only a gateway for admission into the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), IISc Bangalore, the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), etc., several Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) also offer placements based on GATE scores.
GATE 2015 was conducted on Saturday, January 31; Sunday, February 1; Saturday, February 7 and Sunday, February 8, 2015. The Results of GATE 2015 were announced on Thursday, March 12, 2015.
