AHMEDABAD: Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has cancelled 35 branches of engineering in affiliated technical colleges including 22 branches of Electronics and Communication. On the other hand, 85 new branches have been started. Most of the new branches approved are of Masters of Engineering (ME).
A meeting of the Board of Governors (BOG) of the GTU was held here on Thursday where a budget of Rs 184 crore was passed. The university has decided to open five centres of excellence. The location of these centres has not been decided but would be finalized soon.
