On Wednesday, in a meeting of directors of 13 Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) with Union HRD Minister, Kapil Sibal in New Delhi, a very important decision has been taken that from this year onwards all the 13 IIMs will share admission information among them. This decision will not only help in reducing the pressure from the students but will also ensure that no seat in the new IIMs will remain unoccupied.
Besides this, some other decisions have also been taken like from now on these IIMs will also post their individual admission criteria on their websites.
Also, it has been decided that some academic programmes will be thought of in the field of health, infrastructure and education to explore opportunities in these areas.
Other than this, it has also been decided that these B-schools can organize an international road-show pooling their resources for the purpose of attracting talent. This decision has been taken with a view to build diversity on campus and attract international students without affecting the national intake. Lastly, it has also been decided in the meeting that each IIM will have will have an external review which will be discussed in the IIM-Council every three years.
