Around 19,000 candidates among the total number of 5.6 lakh competitors have qualified for the IIT this year. Among them around 500 students are from Lucknow.
For Lukhnow topper Raghuvansh Raj Saxena, it was his first attempt at IIT-JEE examination. He aspires to do engineering in computer science. Although he has not decided about the course of study of IIT.
Parent of another top ranker from this city revealed that IIT-Delhi is one of the preferred destinations of qualified candidates than IIT - Kanpur because of the industrial exposure of Delhi. IIT-Bombay is another choice for this year’s successful candidates as it is well known as an IT city & the wide exposure that it gets. Although IIT-K is prominent for its educational aspect, yet students do not want to go there as international companies are not willing to cooperate regarding placement there.
Story of A Winner
Being a farmer’s son , it was quite tough for Vijay Singh who has secured 1,314 OBC rank to qualify IIT. He shifted in Lukhnow from Kanpur to become an engineer. Because of his poor financial condition, his entire fund for education was served by a coaching institute where he took admission.
