Tired of numerous questions on the transparency of marking of IIT JEE 2011, the Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur (IIT-K) authorities have planned to give separate password to each candidate which he can use to view his answer sheet and marks on the Internet.
This is for the first time that students will get access to their answer sheet and view the assessment of their performance on the Internet. Within 48 hours of the exam, the IITs will declare solutions to all the questions asked in the exam. Once the result is declared, the scanned copies of the answer sheets of 4.78 lakh aspirants along with their marks will be placed online.
The JEE exam is conducted across the county on April 10. This year IIT Kanpur will hold the examination.
Speaking about this initiative to the media, Director, IIT-K, Sanjay Govind Dhande said the move will also help the unsuccessful students to identify their weak areas and prepare well in the future. He said the date for handing over the password to the aspirants has not been fixed yet.
These changes have been hailed by students as well as industry experts. Hoping these changes will being in transparency, Super 30 founder Anand Kumar, said, “These much needed changes will restore students' faith in the examination which has been dogged by controversies since 2006.”
