  • The Indian School of Business (ISB) recently announced its accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). ISB by announcing its accreditation has become the first b-school in South-Asia ever on Monday which has been recognized by a global body. This acknowledgement implies that ISB now joins the exclusive league of the world's best business schools. The AACSB accreditation has been earned by less than 5 per cent of the world's B-schools.

The dean of ISB, Ajit Rangnekar, expresses his happiness and says, “We are delighted to have received the AACSB accreditation, which is regarded as the hallmark of excellence in business education. The AACSB is unique because of its mission-driven approach, evaluating the applying schools against peer schools with similar missions. Given our commitment to creating research-based knowledge, and developing leaders through innovative world-class programmes, we are delighted to have this robust and independent reaffirmation of our adherence to our mission."

"We are confident that this recognition will translate into increased interest by the international community comprising of faculty, students and recruiters, and help us chart Asia's and India's growth as the global management education hub," continues Rangnekar.

Seeing the today’s scenario, Asia is seen as the next global management hub. In Asia, India is growing as an important player owing to factors such as opening and globalising of Indian economy, massive explosion of higher education and a change in approach from being 'inward looking' to 'outward looking'. Due to this international accreditation, the Indian b-schools will be able to strengthen their quality of education and will also be able to improve their global standing. With ISB becoming the first Indian institution to get this prestigious AACSB acknowledgement, it aims to put India firmly on the world management education map.

According to Adi Godrej, chairman, Indian School of Business, “The AACSB Accreditation is yet another feather in the cap of ISB, adding to its track record of success and growth. The fact that this external endorsement of the school's quality has come on its 10th anniversary, makes it even more eventful."

Coincidentally, the day when ISB got its accreditation from AACSB was the 10th anniversary of the school. It bears testimony to its demonstrated record of growth and accomplishment since its inception in 2001.
