  • The Times Higher Education magazine (THE), UK has issued a top-ten list of Indian institutes for the first time. As per THE’s latest World Reputation Ranking for 2013, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore has been placed in the first position. The institutes to follow are IIT Bombay, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), IIT Kanpur and IIT Delhi.

The University of Delhi is the first full-fledged university in the list and has been placed in the sixth place. This ranking survey conducted by THE in India is no doubt in the form of the global recognition of Indian institutes. Phil Baty, editor THE rankings, boosted Indian education’s morale by saying that the world is curious to get the know-how of rapidly growing sector of higher education in India. This is why there remains a huge demand of data from within India.

After Delhi University on the sixth place, IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur, Aligarh Muslim University, and University of Hyderabad are on 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th position respectively. Internationally, however, none of Indian institutions could make it to the top 100 of World Reputation Ranking 2013.
