LD College of engineering in Ahmedabad has been granted autonomous status by the state government. The college gets autonomy at the recommendation of National Board of Accreditation (NAB).
LD College is one of the first institutions to get the status of autonomy. However, the official letter confirming the status is yet to come.
M N Patel, Principal of LD College of engineering, while talking about the growth of the institution, says, “We get lot of feedback from the industry on the kind of updates that are required in the syllabus to make them more relevant for application of a particular branch of engineering. We can now introduce new subjects and fresh courses.”
This prestigious status will also help improving prospects of those students who want to apply abroad for higher studies. According to Patel, a large number of college alumni are abroad in high positions. He said the college is working out a program where these alumni can be invited for lectures and students can be sent to foreign universities as part of special designed programs.
It is worth to know that the college possesses over 1,200 students and a faculty of over 150 teachers. Since LD is the first college in the state to get an autonomous status; it also expects to have better grants from the state and the central government.
