Lucknow University has received 3,320 application forms this year & among these 1,082 applications are for pursuing studies in commerce stream. University officials are expecting that this number will increase further.
University’s admission coordinator Rajeev Pandey stated that, for the last two years courses like commerce has gained huge popularity among students as it is a job oriented course. It has been observed that besides increasing number of applications for commerce, there is a decrease in the application for streams like arts & science. As for example, the university has received only 416 applications for BA, 566 for B.Sc (Mathematics) & 235 for B.Sc(Biology). The university has got 142 forms for BBA course & 125 applications for BCA course. National PG College which is the only autonomous institution in Lukhnow, has observed that around 1,600 students have applied for B.Com. Rakesh Jain, coordinator of admission in National PG College opined that as 80% students go for MBA after completing their graduation, so studying commerce at UG level signifies a lot as a perfect foundation.
