Panjab University association, on Tuesday, took decision to discontinue MBA executive degree from the new academic session in 2013. This decision, however, is seen in the form of a further downfall in already-declining standard of University Business School at the University.
MBA executive degree is a course for professionals working in management and corporate field. Currently, there are 39 seats Panjab University has for this course. Turn down in students’ interest and faculty crisis are the reasons behind this step.
Hardly one fourth of the total seats occupied currently, despite sufficient number of seats available. Officials from PU told that out of total 49 students that appeared in the course only 17 could make it. Then eventually, only eight students were regularly attending classes in last batch. Though UBS department of the University has been known for good reputation, still top alumni have mentioned a decline in standard. For such a reputed department, no doubt, it is awkward to ask to discontinue a course!
