The University Grants Commission (UGC) is about to tighten the reins while considering universities and institutions for development grants. In this regard, the UGC decides to sanction development funds to those institutions only that are accredited by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC). As per the latest notification released by the UGC, universities without accreditation from NAAC won’t be eligible for fund sanction.
Even, notices will be issued to those institutes who are unaccredited and getting grants from the commission. If things really go this way, there are full chances for all the universities in Bihar to be kept bereaved of handsome development grants. As of now, all 14 Bihar universities don’t have NAAC accreditation.
According to the Mandatory Assessment & Accreditation of Higher Education Regulations, 2012, it is compulsory for all universities and higher education institutes to take accreditation within six months; at least if they want development grants from the UGC.
