  • A great opportunity lies for Indian students to avail scholarships. The Swiss government awards many scholarships to Indian students through the medium of the Federal Commission for Scholarships for foreign students (FCS). They provide university scholarships of Swiss universities and Federal Institutes of Technology.

The scholarships last for a nine-month academic year and give all graduate students opportunities to pursue their postgraduate studies or research in Switzerland at a public funded university or recognised institution.

The amount of scholarship which is CHF 1,920 covers the living expenses of the students. Also, they get a free return ticket of flight when they are over with their period of scholarship. However, the students who decide to remain in Switzerland after the completion of six months do not get paid for their return ticket.

    Eligibility conditions:
Candidates must hold a degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) from a recognized university. Students must be able to demonstrate their academic abilities and their aim; must be under the age of 35 (born on or after January 1, 1997); must have expertise in one language (French, German, Italian or English). Students need to give a test regarding their proficiency in any one of these languages. Candidates must contact the institution and/ or the professor supervising their period of research.

    How to apply:
Students who fulfills the eligibility conditions and are interested in taking the scholarship must contact the Embassy of Switzerland in New Delhi, Nyaya Marg, Chanakyapuri, P O Box 392, New Delhi-110021. You will get all the required information about the scholarship, its procedure and required documents. The last date of submission is October 1.
