With an official from the administrative wing of Kurukshetra university alleging manipulations during the scrutiny of documents, the controversial appointment of the principal of university`s senior secondary school has once again come under the scanner.
In his representation to governor of Haryana, Gurbachan Singh, an assistant in PF section, has alleged that during vigilance probe, he was not available in office and somebody manipulated the records during investigations. Singh has also given a copy of his complaint to investigating officer of state vigilance bureau.
The complaint filed by Singh has forced state vigilance bureau (SVB) to examine the case afresh. ``The complaint file has not been closed yet. We are examining the communications made by Singh and appropriate action shall follow,`` SN Vashisht, director, SVB. said.
Amid allegations of favoritism, Promila Batra was appointed as principal of uiversity`s senior secondary school in 2007. Her husband SP Batra is officer on special duty (OSD) attached with KU vice chancellor.
Meanwhile, Batra said, ``Not even a single guideline has been violated in respect of this appointment. All the allegations are baseless.`` However, it is alleged that guidelines mentioned in Haryana government gazetteer were ignored while making her appointment as she did not have educational qualifications required for a lecturer. To qualify for the post of principal, a candidate must have requisite experience as lecturer.
When contacted, Surender Deswal, registrar, KU, expressed ignorance about the case, saying, ``I am quite new to the university. I have joined only a couple of months back. We would go through the file and would respond accordingly,`` said Deswal.
