The details will be put by a consortium of students of various IITs all over the country and the website is schedule d to launch by the end of November. The step has been taken by the students in order to improve the quality of research at their institutes.
A two-day summit of IIT students, called, ‘Inter-IIT Gymkhana Summit 2011’ took place in IIT-Gandhinagar on Saturday where issues common to all IITians were discussed. The summit was attended by student representatives from 10 IITs including IIT Gandhinagar, Guwahati, Rajasthan, Mandi, Ropar, Indore, Madras and Hyderabad. IIT Kanpur and Bombay joined the sessions online.
Along with the other issues, the issue of research work was also taken up by the students and the discussion about to share the research works of B Tech, M Tech and PhD happened.
According to an IIT alumnus Kalyan Surapanani, who initiated the "Inter-IIT Gymkhana Summit" four years back, “Students can take forward researches undertaken by other students and carry it forward towards advanced stages. A rich database of a wide range of research could also become a very useful learning resource."
