Indian model United Nations, a concept initiated in India by founder chairman of Ryan international Group of Institutions, Dr Augustine F Pinto and MD Madam Grace Pinto, opened its 10th session at Scope Complex, Lodhi Road. The conference was inaugurated by Madam Grace Pinto.
On the opening day, H E Prasad Kariyawasam (High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to India) stressed on the need of the world to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. Learned professor, M M Pant (former pro vice chancellor, IGNOU) expressed delight on observing delegates coming out with novel ideas. Delegates had an opportunity to interact with various eminent dignitaries. The closing ceremony was held at Satya Sai Auditorium. The function was graced by chief guest Pallam Raju (MoS Defence).
Other dignitaries present were Vineet Joshi (chairman, CBSE), Shishhir Sinha (director, Regional Marketing Centre of the Ordnance Factories Board, Ministry of Defence), Anita Bhatnagar (jt secretary, Ministry of HRD) and many more.
Army Public School, Delhi Cantt celebrated its 20th annual day and prize distribution ceremony. School chairman Brig Anil P Dere, BGS Delhi Area graced the occasion as chief guest. Sujata Dere was the guest of honour. The programme began with lighting of lamp by the chief guest. School principal Usha Saini presented the annual report. It was followed by the prize distribution ceremony. Sujata Dere felicitated academic and sports achievers with certificates and trophies. Cultural programme ‘Sopan’ mesmerised the audience. Classical Bharatnatyam ‘Ganesh Stuti’ captivated the audience. The theme of the evening reached its cresendo with ‘Upagupta’, an adaptation of Rabidranath Tagore’s poem. The chief guest lauded the efforts of staff and students. Vote of thanks was delivered by the principal.
The Rotary club organised a blood donation camp on October 27 in Management Education and Research Institute, Janakpuri (MERI) auditorium of Rama Krishna Sr Sec School, Vikaspuri. It was a successful camp with 61 blood donors from the campus. Donors were awarded certificates and a goodie prize like T-shirts and organiser diaries.
Bal Bharati Public School, Dwarka held its 13th annual day. Dr D K Bandhopadhay, Vice-Chancellor, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University was the chief guest. Rittika Parruck, Regional Manager (India & Sri Lanka), British Council and Simmi Kher, Coordinator, Tony Blair Faith Foundation (UK) were the guests of honour. Several educationists from UK, Japan and New Zealand graced the programme with their presence. School chairman K K Khullar was present. The cultural programme and exhibition were based on the theme ‘Every Child is Special’. School principal Suruchi Gandhi presented the annual report.
