The South City International School of Kolkata got a chance of hosting the prestigious Limca Book of Records, Kolkata quiz finals recently. There were a total number of 400 students who were present in the quiz and the renowned quiz master, Derek O Brien presented his three rounds of quiz to the participants.
Executives witnessed the battle of the brains from the Coca Cola Company and an enthralling bunch of students cheering their respective schools all the way. A holder of Limca Book of Records, Dolly Jain was also present in the event. She had won the honour for draping saris in 125 styles.
The six schools which made it to the finals were DPS Ruby Park, Apeejay Park Street, Birla High School, Lamartiniere for Boys, Modern High School for Girls and National Gems Higher Secondary School. The schools made it to finals after competing with 97 other schools.
Derek O Brien asked different levels of questions to the participants ranging from general knowledge o the latest buzz in town along with audio visual clips. The entire content, research and the quiz software has been contributed by Know and Grow with Derek.
DPS Ruby Park secured the first position in the quiz with Apeejay Park Street and Birla High School securing the second and third positions respectively.
The winning team was felicitated by Ahmet Bozer, the president of Eurasia and Africa Group, Coca Cola. The final round will be hosted in the national capital in December.
“We have to take power from the roots but at the same time be open to the world. This quiz competition projects the intellectual power and capacity of the young Indians who defines a small part of the incredible intellect of India,” said Ahmet C Bozer.
