  • The Dean Students’ Welfare (DSW) has received over dozen complaints which claim the election polls to be ‘rigged’ and ‘forged’. These allegations of unfair polls in the recently held students’ union polls show the university’s incapability to hold fair and transparent elections.

On Saturday, DSW received a complaint against a student, Sunil Meena who studies at a college in Rajasthan and lost the university elections for the post of vice-president. It was complained that Sunil took the help of a person of the name similar to his, Sunil Meena, student of public administration Rajasthan University, to campaign on his behalf. According to the complainant, “He used to lead rallies and held public meetings to influence people for the actual candidate."

While the RU official said they will investigate the matter, an outraged ABVP candidate, Mahendra Singh Shekawat, who lost elections to Prabha Chaudhary has decided to file a writ petition to break down the result of elections. He said, “I have evidences to prove rigging during elections. I demand police investigation to expose the strong nexus between students' and teachers' groups."

He was on a fast since four days in protest and broke his fast on Friday night when senior BJP leader Digamber Singh Shekawat, chief secretary Salauddin Khan and vicechancellor B L Sharma assured him over the matter.
