Counselling session for engineering aspirants for the admission in colleges of Tamil Nadu will start from July 9. It has been assumed that approximately 86,000 application forms were sold on the first day of the sale of forms. The number of seats available in total 525 colleges in the state are 1.6 lakh. This statistics is enough to prove the popularity of engineering education .
Anna University Vice-Chancellor P. Mannar Jawahar has revealed that the general counselling for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA 2012) will commence from July 9 & will continue till August 12. Random numbers will be assigned on June 20 & the list of acquired rank will be published on June 24.
Admission procedure for the candidates under sports quota will be on July 1. In case of admission for Phase 1 of vocational counselling , the scheduled dates are July 3 & 7. For the differently abled , the process of counselling will be on July 8.
This counselling is meant for admission to Anna university departments, university colleges , government & aided engineering colleges & for the seats reserved under government quota in self-financing engineering colleges .
Anticipating that more seats will be included in the present year, Mr. Jawahar said, “Many colleges have applied for new courses and more seats in the existing courses. Their applications are with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Besides, several trusts have applied to AICTE for approval to start new colleges”. Previous year around 45,000 seats remained unoccupied in engineering colleges.
