The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) will acknowledge online applications for EAMCET-2015 (Engineering Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test) from February 28 to April 9.The test will be conducted on May 14.
As per the timetable announced by the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) on Friday, the Entrance Exam will be conducted at 12 centres. Authorities are planning to have two more centres this year apart from the current ones."We are planning to have focuses at Kodad in Nalgonda area and Kothapet in Khammam region also," said T Papi Reddy, administrator of TSCHE.
Applicants must score 25% marks in the EAMCET to qualify. Then again, there would be no minimum qualifying marks for applicants belonging to SC/ST.
The qualifying applicants would be assigned positions by giving 75% weightage to the marks secured in the test and 25% to the marks secured in the 12th board exams. "Twenty five percent weightage to 12th marks will be given regardless of whether the candidate belongs to Andhra Pradesh Board or Telangana Board," said Shailaja Ramaiyar, vice chancellor of JNTUH.
"Around 1,80,000 students from Telangana and 70,000 from Andhra Pradesh are expected to take the exam this year," said NV Ramana Rao, convenor of EAMCET."Even Andhra Pradesh candidates are eligible to be part of the 15 per cent seats that are reserved for students from other states.If they secure top scores, they are most welcome," he added.
The results for the entrance test will be out on May 28, informed Ramana Rao.
