The Maharashtra legislative assembly on Tuesday okayed the Universities Amendment Bill laying down fresh age limit for superannuation for college principals and teachers.
According to the provisions in the Bill, the age bar for college principals for superannuation has been upped from 60 years to 65 years.
In the case of college teachers, the retirement age limit has been increased from 60 to 62 years.
Minister for higher and technical education Rajesh Tope tabled the Bill in the state legislative assembly. The minister said the superannuation limit has been reformulated following instructions from the University Grants Commission (UGC).
