Established in 1999, Yenepoya Medical College Mangalore is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University, Bangalore. At first, the college had 100 students studying MBBS starting in 1999. Later they added more courses at an advanced level for seven departments in 2005. Right now, the college offers a range of master’s degree programs in 20 departments.

In 2009, Yenepoya Medical College started the first college of Yenepoya University. It was recognized as a university under Section 3(A) in laws passed in 1956 by UGC Act. In 2011, the Medical Council of India permitted the college for Medical admission for a Bachelor’s Degree (MBBS).
